SCION DTU

Scion DTU houses 250 small and large high-tech companies, and more than 3,000 people have the two locations in Lyngby and Hørsholm near Copenhagen as their daily workplace. These are dynamic international environments, in which inventors, entrepreneurs and companies enjoy a high degree of flexibility to move in, out and around on a continuous basis. And more than 90 per cent of them recommend Scion DTU to other companies.

NEW KNOWLEDGE

Scion DTU is located at DTU and more than half of the companies at the Science Park cooperated with DTU in 2016. The researchers put in over 8,000 hours of work in Scion DTU companies, and more than 80 experienced business people from the Scion DTU mentor corps provided over 1,200 hours of consultancy, advice, and expert assistance, while a wide variety of network meetings and events attracted thousands and 30,000 cups of network coffee were enjoyed at Ricco’s Coffee Shop.

GROWTH

More knowledge, more growth, and more jobs are quite simply created when inventors, entrepreneurs, companies, researchers and investors are located together as they are at Scion DTU. In 2016, seven out of ten companies at the Science Park generated growth, which is a significantly higher share than outside this environment. They created more than 240 new jobs within a number of high-tech areas which will provide the foundation of the Danish economy in the future.

NEW PRODUCTS

The number of product launches and patents taken out is a key success criteria for a science park that works to ensure that inventions and ideas are developed and turned into products and companies. The level was high in 2016. Eight out of ten companies at Scion DTU launched new products, which is a much higher share than for Danish companies in general. And three patents were taken out per week, which is an increase of more than a third compared with 2015.
